back to you.
This is my most honest story, and maybe a piece of yours too. About the child we once were, and the way back. By Manu.
I think somewhere between all the screens, we forgot what life actually feels like.
Not the life we post.
The real one.
I'm not a coach. Not a guru. Not an expert in anything. Honestly, I'm still figuring out who I even am. I'm just someone who can't shake this one feeling, that somewhere along the way we lost something. Something we carried in us so naturally as kids.
Do you remember what it was like, being a child?
Outside all day. In the mud, in the dirt, on some scrappy field until it got dark. You ran to your friends, rang the doorbell and asked if they could come out to play. You ran until you were out of breath, fell down, scraped your knees, and you couldn't have cared less. You laughed until your stomach hurt.
No thought of tomorrow. No thought of yesterday. Just that nothing-else-matters mode. Completely there. All in.
Back then it didn't feel like anything special. It was just your life. And still, it was maybe the most real and most free it ever was.
And today you don't ring the bell anymore. Today you text.
We're connected like never before. A thousand contacts, a thousand messages, all one tap away. And still we've never been so far apart. Not just from others. From ourselves too.
Always reachable, and yet rarely truly reached. Always connected, and yet rarely truly touched.
We used to dance together. Look each other in the eye. Talk to strangers on the street, start a conversation, get to know someone, right in the middle of life.
Today we think we're communicating all the time. But we only talk through a phone, each of us in our own little world. And while we look down, we lose the real world out there.
A message comes in, and we react. Instantly. Without thinking. We don't decide how we live, the phone decides for us.
And this isn't a question of discipline. It's not a fair fight. This little device is stronger than any resolution, stronger than any good thought you give yourself in the morning. It wasn't built that way by accident, but by people who know exactly how our minds work, so we keep coming back. So if you've ever caught yourself and felt weak: you're not weak. You're just fighting something that was made to win.
I was never the one who scrolls for hours. Maybe that's exactly why it hit me so hard to see others like that. Young or old. People sitting together at a table and still everyone just staring at their own phone. Kids sitting next to their parents in the car, headphones in, instead of talking to them. Sometimes my wife Lara. Sometimes me.
You just wish people would wake up again. That they'd be here again.
Honestly, I want to be more like that little Manu from back then again. I still carry that being-fully-in-the-moment in me often, but I also know there's so much more potential in me that I'm not living yet.
And I've realized: that kind of thing doesn't come when you set out to do it. It doesn't come through one more routine or one more video. It comes in the time you spend with yourself. Outside. In nature. In the silence. That's where it slowly starts to wake up in you.
You can't teach it to anyone. No one can. I know how hard, but how damn beautiful, it is to be truly, consciously present. To look someone in the eye and really be there.
That's exactly why I want to give my best to give people that back. That fire inside. That being-a-child. That being-present. That awareness.
That being.
Because life doesn't happen yesterday. And not tomorrow.
It happens here. Now. In this one breath.
And this moment is the only thing that's truly ours.
And that's exactly why back to ctrl exists.
It's just a small key.
One tap, and the noise shuts out. But real life opens up.
To you it might just be a piece of hardware right now. An NFC chip. An app. A blocker. But believe me: it's only the beginning of a whole movement. A movement back to real life. Back to being a child. Back to awareness, to freedom, to love, to you.
In the end it's about a laugh outside. About eye contact. About people talking to each other again, instead of scrolling next to each other.
And honestly: I want all of this to work completely without ctrl one day. So you don't need it anymore. A product that wants to set you free, from the feed, and one day from itself too. That makes itself unnecessary, because you're back.
They sold you the feed as freedom. But that was never freedom. That was control, just never yours.
It's called ctrl, but it's not about controlling life. Life is allowed to be wild. Open. Chaotic. Full of love. Full of things you can't plan.
It's about you deciding again what steers you. Not the device. Not the feed. Not the algorithm.
You.
Because freedom isn't being able to have everything at any time. Freedom is being able to choose. To sit with the silence. To leave the phone lying there even though it's buzzing. To sit with a person and truly be there. To not just capture your life, but to feel it.
Because honestly, life isn't there to watch a feed.
It's there to risk something. To go all in. To ring your friends' doorbell. To look someone in the eye. To hug a tree, even if it's weird. To jump into the sea and just let yourself drift. To laugh. To dance. To love. To be fully you.
And let's be honest: isn't that exactly what truly makes us happy at the end of a day?
Life isn't there to be watched.
It's there to be lived.
Take back control.
And maybe one day you'll lose it again, to finally be free.
Attached to nothing. Connected to everything.
